History of Winflo Curtains in Launceston, TAS

Winflo is one of the longest-standing home furnishings businesses in Launceston. It was established by Barrie Welch's father in the 1940s, initially as a tyre retailer. Noticing a gap in the market, Barrie expanded the business to focus on soft furnishings, starting with carpet underlay and carpets, then moving on to window treatments.

Barrie hired Lucille Stubbs as a sales assistant in the 1980s, and Lucille and her husband, Mark, purchased the business in 1994. They moved to their current premises, a former wool merchant's warehouse on Cimitiere Street, in 2017.

Lucille, Mark and the team have seen an enormous amount of change in the interior industry over this time. Yet, they still approach each project with the same enthusiasm to enhance the comfort and beauty of spaces within their beloved community.
